We love to welcome your lovely dog or pet to Brackenrigg Barn cottages: Bleaberry, Brocklebeck, and The Sett cottages. Brackenrigg House can accept 2 dogs. Your dog is very welcome! We have woodland and our new 3 acre re-wilding area where your dog can be off lead (with you) and roam around and search out all the new smells! We also have acres of gardens too.
We accept adventure cats too. They need to be with you at all times…which we know adventure cats are! Similar rules apply about cleaning up after your cat, and not leaving them alone!
As we have 4 cottages across our 7 acre estate, for the comfort of other guests here who may not have a dog, may not like dogs, or perhaps have nervous children, please observe the following to make everyones experience as enjoyable as possible:
- Please ensure your dog is on the lead at all times in the gardens around Brackenrigg Barn and Brackenrigg House. There is 5 acres of meadow and woodland area where he/she can be off lead, but accompanied.
- No dogs are allowed in any part of the children’s play area
- Please always clean up after your dog and dispose of in the bins.
- Please be respectful of other guests including any that may be nervous of dogs, or just not want their space invaded by him or her.
- In the cottages: please do not allow your dog on any furniture, particularly sofas and beds. Please bring your own dog blankets etc, as we think your dog prefers its own smell, but we can supply if needed.
- You’ll want to take your dog on walks in this amazing area – if they get wet and muddy, you can clean and dry them with a hose pipe outside the laundry room of the barn.
- We worry about your dog being left alone in a strange cottage as many of them would be upset & anxious – so please do not leave your dog alone, unless you have brought a cage for it.
- Some male dogs occasionally ‘mark’ furniture, if this happens, please ensure you clean and sanitise immediately to ensure no stains.
- Please clean up the cottage after your stay, particularly any dog hair on carpets etc, or dog spatter on walls etc.
- We reserve the right to deduct your card against damages caused by your pet. This will include cleaning at £35 per hour over our normal expected changeover, and replacement or repair of any furniture or furnishings.
Finally, we hope you find Brackenrigg to be the perfect place to bring your dog on holiday. Lots and lots of space. Lots of interesting places to explore around the grounds, wildlife galore…and away from the noise and bustle of Keswick, albeit we are close by!
Enjoy!
