Brackenrigg House or Brackenrigg Barn cottages are the perfect venue for a family holiday each with extensive gardens for you to explore with your kids.

We have an acre of woodland, which is home to an abundance of wildlife including badgers, red squirrels, deer, owls, buzzards, and many flowers. Explore the network of pathways and picnic spots. Watch the Red squirrels playing in the grounds.

Ball Play Paddock

There’s a large ball play paddock with a new commercial quality play tower with climbing area, platform and slide, child size football nets

The Great Outdoors

There are lots of easy and challenging walks from the door through he Naddle and St Johns in the Vale valleys, over High Rigg, Low Rigg, Raven Crag, Tewets tarn and Castlerigg Stone circle, Walla crag – all accessible from the door. Just a short drive are the major peaks of Helvellyn, Belncathra and lots of options around Keswick. The fells behind are a natural adventure playground with fells, crags, rocks, paths, streams, waterfalls and a tarn. You can access the fell from the ladder stile just 200m from the holiday cottages.

Family Activities in Keswick

Keswick has so many outdoor activities to enjoy! Walks for all levels, from level and accessible to the highest fells, there is sure to be something suitable for you. You can hire kayaks, paddle boards, rowing boats, and sailing boats at the marinas for Derwentwater. Bike hire for electric, road and mountain bikes is also available in Keswick, as well as from the extensive mountain biking Whinlater Forest (which also has a Go Ape course) Honister Slate Mine has an interesting tour, as well as the challenging via ferrata course.

Rainy Days

All holiday cottages have a Smart TV, most have a DVD player, free wi-fi. Brackenrigg House and The Sett also have sound bars.

Brackenrigg House has a games room with an air hockey table, board games, books and children’s toy box, and a summer house!

Cots & Highchairs

And for very little ones you can hire a cot and high-chair. Please contact us to book in advance.
