We have just completed a new wildlife scrape in the tree planted meadow area. This will capture water with its natural clay base layer, and create a pond in the winter, which dries out in a hot summer…perfect for all kinds of plant, insect and animal life.
We have just sown Yellow Rattle seed, which is parasitic on the grasses, so we can reduce the grass sward and encourage wild flowers – carefully selecting for wetland loving species.
On the tennis court lawn, with have also planted yellow rattle plugs ahead of re-planting this lawn as a wildflower meadow; electing plants to attract bees and other pollinators….
watch this space as our re-wilding plans develop!
